This Sunday, I’m gearing up for my fifth year judging the style at Kelso Races Ladies Day, and I can’t wait! Once again, we’re keeping an eye out for those wee thoughtful touches that show a bit of care for the planet. Maybe it’s a pre-loved frock, a vintage headpiece, or something handed down with a bit of history, whatever it is, we love hearing the stories behind the outfits. That’s where people’s personalities really shine through, and that means a lot to us as judges.
For me, dressing up should feel joyful, like a proper treat. And if your outfit’s also helped support a local business or made a gentler mark on the planet, well, that’s even better. It’s always such a lovely day out, and the team at Kelso are just brilliant.
Now, it might sound all glitz and glamour judging the best dressed… but believe me, there’s a fair bit to juggle with timings, categories, outfits and prizes! Still, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now I just need to sort my own outfit out!

LADIES’ DAY COMPETITIONS AND ACTIVITIES
Gates open sharp at 12 pm.
Racegoers will be spotted by the style squad and handed a rosette to compete in the Colourful Edit Catwalk, which will feature an all-female line-up this year; Lauren Jamieson, Personal Stylist, from The Colourful Edit, Gillian McLaughlin, from HAY Wellbeing and Kayleigh Rose D’Jing on the Decks.
Once you have your rosette, you will be invited to partake in some catwalk striding to be in with the chance to win…
