Making more considered choices

Sustainability is an ongoing commitment for us. We’re proud of the choices we’ve made, and we’re always looking for ways to do better.

  • Materials with a second life. Recycled cotton is a key ingredient in our making process, and we use recycled packaging too.

  • Local people and suppliers. We work with local suppliers wherever we can and pay our team above the living wage.

  • More joy from what we own. As stylists, we love helping people shop their own wardrobes and find fresh ways to wear familiar pieces. When we do bring something new in, we consider pre-loved options and choose with joy and durability in mind.

  • Community at the heart. We involve our local community in projects that do good and welcome collaborations with like-minded organisations.

These choices are part of how we make and work at The Colourful Edit. We’ll keep learning, asking questions and making the most thoughtful decisions we can.

WHAT WE DO …

  • Recycled Materials

    Lauren is a trained colour stylist. She chooses her colour palettes for the Spring and the Autumn and orders her yarn. The yarn is made in Portugal and is shipped over to the Uk. We endeavour not to have waste and use the off cuts for local projects involving the local community.

  • Local Makers

    The Borders is rich in making heritage. All our makers are very talented females who have a gift for creative projects. We train to a pattern standard and ensure quality before quantity.

  • Recycled Packaging

    We source recycled packaging locally and we have found the loveliest recycled tissue paper which comes over from NZ once a year in bulk.

  • The Sustainable Stylist

    Lauren looks at ways to use what we already have in our wardrobes and then designs around these items, adding an extra splash of colour with her products, or other sustainable recommendations - such as shopping second hand, or looking for companies who produce well made keep sakes
