Kelso Races: Ladies Day
This Sunday, I’m gearing up for my fifth year judging the style at Kelso Races Ladies Day, and I can’t wait! Once again, we’re keeping an eye out for those wee thoughtful touches that show a bit of care for the planet. Maybe it’s a pre-loved frock, a vintage headpiece, or something handed down with a bit of history, whatever it is, we love hearing the stories behind the outfits. That’s where people’s personalities really shine through, and that means a lot to us as judges.
For me, dressing up should feel joyful, like a proper treat. And if your outfit’s also helped support a local business or made a gentler mark on the planet, well, that’s even better. It’s always such a lovely day out, and the team at Kelso are just brilliant.
Now, it might sound all glitz and glamour judging the best dressed… but believe me, there’s a fair bit to juggle with timings, categories, outfits and prizes! Still, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now I just need to sort my own outfit out!

LADIES’ DAY COMPETITIONS AND ACTIVITIES
Gates open sharp at 12 pm.
Racegoers will be spotted by the style squad and handed a rosette to compete in the Colourful Edit Catwalk, which will feature an all-female line-up this year; Lauren Jamieson, Personal Stylist, from The Colourful Edit, Gillian McLaughlin, from HAY Wellbeing and Kayleigh Rose D’Jing on the Decks.
Once you have your rosette, you will be invited to partake in some catwalk striding to be in with the chance to win…

Part of being a Stylist is helping woman find their confidence through colour and style. I have styled many a fabulous client and the discovery of colour is the most vital part in the process. Once you have discovered your 'wow' colours, there's no holding you back! Part of the aftermath of this discovery is that you are often left with some lovely items of clothing that no longer resonate with you. A lot of gorgeous clothes that may be the wrong colour (for you), or the wrong style (for you), but are definitely worthy of a new home.
And that's where we come in.

WHAT TO EXPECT
👚 Drop off your clothing, no more than 5 to items Please drop items into Channel House FFR Rail, in the lead up to the event. (You can donate clothes on the day but if we can have them beforehand it really does help us).
👗They must be clean / pressed / on hangers with the exception of jeans & T Shirts , these can be folded.
🩳 They must be free from damage , broken zips, missing buttons, stains.
⛔️ NO underwear / swimwear / pjs / slippers / earrings. We will not take these from you
*For every item you will receive a token to use at the event.*
DROP OFF DATES: 30/10 (11-1), 5/11 (10-2pm), 6/11 (10.30am)
❤️ We accept all shapes and sizes women’s clothing. A focus on Autumn/Winter clothes would be amazing and all colour. We will hope to hold this event seasonally. This is our pilot.
If you donate high end designer goods, there is no saying you will receive the same brand or value back. Remember you are donating in the HOPE to find something you love.

Anything left over after the event will be give to our local charity shop Red Cross Galashiels.
